Players that share a position often share a table when they talk to the media. That's why it was strange to see New York Giants quarterback Anthony Wright with a giant lineman.
It turns out that Wright was not sitting with a giant lineman. He was sitting with a giant Giant quarterback. Jared Lorenzen is 6-4 and 285 pounds, Wright a more conventional 6-1 and 202.
Wright, 31, played at South Carolina and lives in Charlotte.
You think Steve Spurrier will win?
"Of course," Wright says. "What did you think I was going to say?"
Wright still loves the Gamecocks and still can't stand Clemson and still needs his school to win so he can talk trash to the Tigers he encounters.
Coaches often have a favorite word. New York coach Tom Coughlin's favorite word is outstanding. Coughlin says Wednesday that Tom Snee is an "outstanding" offensive lineman. The coaches in the NFC East are "outstanding." Rookie running back Ahmad Bradshaw is "outstanding."
Snee is married to Coughlin's daughter, Katie, and they have two sons.
I wonder what kind of sons they are?
"They're outstanding young sons," Coughlin says.
