Although the Charlotte Bobcats lost to the New York Knicks Wednesday night, the game was sufficiently entertaining that I couldn't turn it off. Charlotte played hard and unselfishly and almost beat an admittedly not very good team on the road.
There were moments when the effort and intelligence came together. Jared Dudley, whom I would think any team would love to have, got me out of my chair with two first-quarter steals, one on which he dove to the floor.
Alas, the Bobcats made a mistake from which they could not recover late in the game when they stopped going to Emeka Okafor. The Knicks had nobody that could stop him.
The MVP Wednesday was Henry Williams. The second-best player in UNCC history behind Cedric Maxwell, Williams provides commentary on Bobcat broadcasts. He is smart, smooth and insightful, and willing to criticize.
I need witnesess. Perhaps you'll volunteer. I make my NFL picks for the Observer every Sunday, and since there's a game tonight, I'm picking Denver to beat Cleveland on the road.
