The ACC finally found a way to stop Mike Copeland.
With a second left in North Carolina's 93-76 victory against N.C. State Saturday, Copeland grabbed a pass and went to the basket for what would have been an easy dunk. But N.C. State was tired of North Carolina's easy dunks and Tyler Hansbrough's outside shooting. After making a nice little second half run, the Tar Heels dominated.
So N.C. State's Ben McCauley hammered Copeland as Copeland went to the hoop. He stayed with the foul after the initial contact, and Copeland landed awkwardly. He jumped up ran at McCauley.
Big Ben, what were you thinking? Copeland is far from the Tar Heel rotation as N.C. State is from the Tar Heels in the ACC standings. He's an end of the bench guy, a 6-7 senior who averages a point a game.
Nobody wants to be dominated, but it wasn't N.C. State's afternoon. The Wolfpack had an opportunity to be tough when North Carolina's starters were on the court. They failed.
