Leaving Charlotte in an hour for Danica Beach, Fla. Could have flown. Chose to drive.
You either like to drive or you don't. Getting in the car and taking off feels like an adventure, unless I have to go to or through Atlanta.
Last work road trip was with Darin Gantt, now of Pro FootballTalk, from Charlotte to Auburn for Cam Newton's Pro Day. Darin gets it; we stopped at Abdullah the Butcher's restaurant in Atlanta on the way. The Butcher hung out with us. Says Ric Flair always ducked him. We left happy and full.
I'm making the drive alone today. So I decide when to leave, in which lane to drive -- for the freeway system to work , incidentally, slower traffic has to keep right -- when to stop, where to eat and, perhaps most importantly, what to listen to. CDs are stacked and I have my stations locally and on Satellite.
As long as I avoid I-4, this will work fine. If you know anywhere on the way, or in Daytona Beach. I ought to stop, let me know.

Check our Georgios in St. George, SC. Just off I-95S after you get off I-26E (if that's the route you take).
Great, eclectic salad bar, tasty pizza, good food. Lots of locals there too.
