Hadn't seen a fight at Carolina's training camp until Tuesday.
And then safety Mike Mitchell took a shot at receiver Brandon LaFell. And LaFell followed Mitchell into the defensive huddle and defensive players yelled at LaFell to get back to his own side.
And safety D.J. Campbell took a shot at tight end Greg Olsen, and Olsen fired the ball at Campbell. When players returned to the sideline, the anger was evident.
And then LaFell went after cornerback Josh Norman. And Norman went back at him. While they were engaging in a welterweight battle, tackle Byron Bell and defensive end Greg Hardy were engaging in a heavyweight contest. Looked as if Bell threw a punch. Steve Smith pulled Hardy off Bell and it looked as if defense end Charles Johnson grabbed Smith. Happened fast.
Captain Munnerlyn did something.
I didn't see it. But I know he was involved.
And then Cam Newton began to pull players off Smith.
And tackle Jordan Gross broke up the fight.
And kicker Graham Gano looked at the sportswriters on the sideline and said, "You're all Tweeting the fight."
And head coach Ron Rivera acknowledged later he was angrier than he has been at any point in training camp.
His message: You play Chicago Friday. Save it for them.
