Josh Norman, the fifth-round pick last season out of Coastal Carolina, started 12 games as a rookie. He showed up confident and, although he made mistakes, he had something. Good sized at 6-feet and 200 pounds, he was going to be good. You could tell.
He was benched late and disappeared. It was as if Norman had been grounded.
So it was nice to see him come flying back Friday against Chicago. Norman intercepted Jay Cutler's first pass and returned it 11 yards. The interception set up Carolina's first touchdown.
In the third quarter he picked off a pass, made a nice cut and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. He followed the pick by leaping into the stands, Lambeau style. He hung out for awhile, in no rush to return to the field.
Norman still has something. Maybe he gets to show it when the practice games end.
