I have no sympathy for Johnny Manziel. But whether he signed autographs for money or not, there's an easy solution.
I've proposed this before. I sense it has yet to catch on. But I'll try again anyway.
You can request autographs only from people who are older than you are. If you're 50, and you crave the autograph of a college quarterback, you're out.
There would be several beneficiaries, foremost among them children, who no longer will get shoved to the back of the line from somebody who wants the autograph of Kemba Walker or Luke Kuechly.
I think autographs, for adults, are stupid. But that's just me.
Alas, where there are winners there also are losers. NASCAR's Mark Martin, who is approximately 70, would sign as often as he races. And Steve Smith, 34, would become the target of every aging fan of the Carolina Panthers.
Embrace my rule and the world becomes a better place, not that that's a big deal.
