Ron Rivera held his weekly news conference Monday. He was the way you would expect him to be -- down but hanging onto whatever optimism he can muster.
He talked about how the Panthers are young but added that by now they should have figured out how to win.
Young doesn't work four games into a season and three games into Rivera's career as head coach of the Carolina Panthers. They're not the Young Panthers. They're the Panthers.
And their lineup -- backfield, offensive line, receivers, defensive line, linebackers, even defensive backfield -- features numerous veterans.
After Carolina's loss to a lesser team Sunday the Panthers are 1-3. They were 1-3 last season. They were 1-3 the season before.
1-3 doesn't feel like a record. It feels like a lifestyle.
It's a lifestyle nobody wants to lead -- except Jacksonville and the New York Giants.
