Carolina receiver Steve Smith and St. Louis cornerback Janoris Jenkins went at it throughout the game. After Smith beat Jenkins running across the field right to left for a reception, and then broke Jenkins tackle and scored, Smith turned around and pointed at him.
Smith said after the game that Jenkins had done homework on him, found out his wife's name, asked how she was doing and said some other things.
Smith might have played angry, but he played with control. He drew a penalty -- Jenkins was called for a hold. Smith also caught five of the six passes with which he was targeted for 69 yards and a touchdown. He was Carolina's leading receiver in the 30-15 victory.
