Interesting first half.
Panthers turn the ball over and San Francisco kicks three field goals. Up 9-0.
Then Panthers call a beautiful play. Brandon LaFell, who was split left, runs into the backfield and stands behind Cam Newton. Newton takes the snap, begins to roll right, and LaFell accompanies him as if it's a read option. Newton hands the ball to DeAngleo Williams who goes up the middle, cuts left, breaks two tackles, picks up 27 yards and scores a touchdown. It's 9-7 at the break.
Speaking of breaks, 49ers got a big one. Safety Mike Mitchell stripped tight end Vernon Davis of the ball and Thomas Davis recovered for Carolina. Officials ruled, however, that Vernon Davis never had possession and replay officials confirmed it.
They saw an angle I didn't. Davis appeared the have the ball for two steps before he was stripped.
