Glad to see that the men's ACC basketball tournament will come back to Charlotte in 2019. Although the tournament doesn't create the frenzy it does in Greensboro -- Greensboro lacks the NBA and NFL free agency and Steve Smith -- it is important and we do embrace it.
Some of you think the tournament belongs to N.C. and that we should confiscate it and hold it in Charlotte or Greensboro every year. I disagree. I love that the conference will ship the tournament to Brooklyn in 2017 and 2018.
It's like a kid going away to school Be sure and Skype.
Have you been to Brooklyn the last 10 years? The place is alive. Of course there are restaurants and bars and the Brooklyn Bridge, which is great to run or walk. And if you want to see bonus basketball, hit a playground.
Moving the tournament to a new site doesn't detract; it enhances. Brooklyn is a reward for players, fans and everybody attached to the tournament with the wherewithal to get up there. I'm a fan of colliding cultures. We have ours and they have theirs, and the result ought to be compelling when they meet.
After a two-year run the tournament will return to its N.C. roots. I like that, too.
