The winner:
"Ah, come on! Don't relocate yet, guys!"
-- submitted by Matthew McGinnis of Charlotte.
Oh, bother! Peter Gorman will have his work cut out for him once he starts his new job as Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Superintendent. He'll have angry parents, a troublesome school board, and lots of classroom problems to keep him busy as a bee. He'll also have to contend with the occasional stings from our Cartoon Caption Contest writers. Mr. McGinnis' best line for our Winnie-the-Pooh metaphor takes this week's grand prize.
The runners-up:
"The buzz says I'm getting into a sticky situation!"
-- submitted by Lena Tompkins of Charlotte.
"That's funny -- they told me I'd have to worry about the WASPs!"
-- submitted by Patrick Davitt of Matthews.
"I’m looking for all A’s not B’s!”
-- submitted by Cheryl White of Cornelius.
(Sung to the tune of "I'm Just a Little Black Rain Cloud")
"I will now lead Charlotte's school crowd, wond'ring how much money I'll see. I'm superintendent and so proud. Please pay attention to me."
-- submitted by Kenneth Buckingham of Charlotte.
Thanks for all your entries. Here's a sampling of some of the other better lines we received:
"It's the Attack of the Frances Haithcock Supporters!"
"HONEY, I'M HO-OME!"
"Wait! At least let me get my resumes in the mail."
"Y'all wouldn't sting a guy on his honeymoon, would you?"
"Hmm, wonder if I'll "Roo" the day..."
"Where's Coach White with the bug spray when you need it?"
"Only a Bear of Little Brain would take this job!"
"Maybe this isn't a honey of a deal !"
"This is going to be a very blustery year!"
