"Is this what you call break dancing?"

The winning entry apparently had nothing to do with the local book-pulling situation but was a reference to an unrelated penguin movie.

I guess I disagree. It struck me as especially funny precisely because it referred to both the local censorship issue and to the animated penguin movie. Gorman acted without following procedure, and apparently, without much thought. The "happy feet" in the caption seemed to me to perfectly capture his sudden urge to stomp around -- with the predictable results.

Fair enough. That could be inferred.

The name of the book this cartoon is making reference to is, "And Tango Makes Three." So when I saw the cartoon, I thought of the following caption:
"Obviously, it takes more than two to Tango!"

"Yes, Mr. James, that was the last tango in CMS."

I must be getting old or losing my mind. I thought the classic 1972 movie, "Last Tango in Paris" was still a household term. Jimmy Buffett paradies the title in his song, "Last Mango in Paris." The cartoon shows the Bill James penguin dominating as if he's saying, "Is that the last of those books?" Naturally Dr. Gorman would reply, "Yes Mr. James, that is the last tango in CMS." Paris sounds like CMS...am I thinking too much for this contest? I didn't even get mentioned in the blog. Kevin, what's the deal?

While our judges' judgements are final, they're not necessarily perfect -- which is why we include this "Comments" section. I'm glad you included your caption submission and the thinking behind it. The captions we listed above were only a small fraction of those we received. I look forward to future entries from you. Good luck!

Okay thanks, Mr. Siers. Or as Karl in Slingblade would say, "alright, then."
