Thank you for all your entries. This was a difficult week to judge -- a lot of great captions from which to choose! As usual, feel free to discuss any of this in our "Comments" section. Just click the blue link below this post and add your observations or additional captions!
Here's a selection of some of the other lines we received:
"Soon, public libraries will be a fantasy, too."
"Once upon a time, there were politicians who cared and knew the importance of the arts and education . . . "
"I guess they really wanted a streetcar."
“Maybe we can meet online!”
“Books are no longer a safe investment!”
"This isn't how the stories are supposed to end."
"Reality bites."
"I'm sorry guys, there's no room for you in the budget."
"On the bright side, you'll all now have a longer shelf life."
"You are all going to have to wait until next year ,I'm only half way through the Health Care Bill."
"Put on your dust jackets."
"The only book kids want is Facebook."
"The plot summary: you're all done for."
“Where do I put the batteries?”
"We no longer have any positions open for you in the libraries; however, we are looking for qualified streetcar operators."
"I'm sorry, but the budget for imagination was cut."
"Sorry, but we did have to build the new ABC store."

Congrats to Doug. It is an honor coming 2nd (and 3rd) place to you.

My comment was:
The Consultant Report says right here, if we at the Observer get at least one Conservative Reporter or Editorial Board Member, our readership will go up?
