We had a lot of readers mention this week that this challenge was a particularly hard one. Well, all I can say, is that it was a hard one to judge, as well. Thank you for all your entries. Here's a selection of some of the other better lines we received:
"I can’t remember, is it ‘eat what you kill’ or ‘what you eat will kill you’?"
"The jobs picture may be worse than the Fed's letting on."
"Beef, it's what's for dinner."
"I heard he would rather have PCBs than a PBR."
"I never realized that Lake Wylie was this toxic."
"He won't tell me his name, but says his initials are PCB."
"He's killing the fishing industry. That's just shad."
"Remember when I told you the fish in the Catawba River were safe to eat? Well, I was wrong. DEAD wrong."
"Those fellas with that report about the river must have been dead-on."
"I'd be scared to death to eat anything out of here."
"I reckon our dinner option will be fish croak-ettes."
"Says the fishing here's better than Chernobyl."
"Maybe he's doing some nuclear fishin'."
"That's the new 'No Fishing' sign"
"I didn't know Peter Gorman fished, either."
"He said he's taking advantage of his free time now before Obamacare kicks in."
"It's the Observer cartoonist in disguise, so PETA won't find out."
As usual feel free to discuss any of this in our "Comments" section. Just click the blue link below this post and add your observations or additional captions!
Please join us again Monday, Jan. 17, for a new cartoon caption challenge.

"I didn't realize Peter Gorman fished either" is clearly the best of the lot. Looking forward to next week's edition.

That was a great one as well. Again, it was one of those that more than one person sent in very similar variations. Perhaps, though, I should have moved it up into the 'runner-up' category since it was obviously very newsy.

What would be the harm in putting the name of the caption writer in the "Also Ran" section?
