On Wednesday, UNC Chapel Hill announced that football coach Butch Davis was dismissed because the NCAA investigation of rules violations was causing too much damage to the school's reputation.
"To restore confidence in the University of North Carolina and our football program, it's time to make a change," Chancellor Holden Thorp said in his statement. "What started as a purely athletic issue has begun to chip away at this university's reputation."
