The winner:
“When he said it was time for us to eat our peas, I had no idea they’d be that hard to swallow.”
-- Daniel J. Finegan of Charlotte
The runners-up:
“Beans!”
-- Bolyn McClung, Pineville
“Unfortunately, still not as big as oil.”
-- Brian Carreira, Pineville
“He looks like a trillion bucks!”
-- John Bradey, Matthews
"Solyndra was a giant mistake."
-- Doug Cox, Albemarle
“From the valley of the jolly owe, owe, owe . . .”
-- Kevin Siers, Charlotte
Thanks for all your entries. Here’s a selection of some of the other better lines we received:
“I thought only your nose was supposed to grow.”
“Yes we canned.”
“From the values of the jolly – ho, ho, hope – Green Giant!”
“Always selling.”
“We’ll know more about him by this fall.”

I sense nepotism regarding the entry from the last runner up.

He still looks so much smaller than the media portrays him.

SMALL TOWN HUMOR BEST.
With the exception of that woeful last runner-up, all the winners were from small North Carolina towns.
Well maybe even Charlotte qualifies as a small town. We here in Pineville refer to Charlotte as our suburb to the north.

Daniel Finegan of Charlotte, you know, that village to the north of you, Bolyn, was judged this week's winner. I don't know what's going on with that other guy from Charlotte.
