The winner:
“It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one. Except during tax season.”
-- Brandon Swann, Nottingham, Md.
The runners-up:
“I didn’t tell a lie.”

Thanks for all your entries. Here’s a selection of some of the other better lines we received:
“I pledged my fortune and you obliged me.”
“It was just one little lie.”
“Almost feel like I fought for nothing.”
“My return is unbelievable.”
“The buck stops WHERE now?”
“I’m strapped.”
“I’m only worth a quarter of what I used to be.”
“Is Mr. Buffett related to King George?”
“Still say Washington can’t relate?”

Suzanne, I was hoping to equal your unparalleled accomplishment of being a winner two weeks in a row, but it was not to be. I did get three "also-rans" though, including the "quarter" line and the two above it. It keeps up my morale. ;<)

You might not want to parallel my accomplishment, since I haven't had any winners since then...it's not doing much for my morale

Thanks for the congrats! I'd love to get two in a row also, but I'm not getting my hopes up. If I continue my current trend, I won't win again until November.
Another entry I had this week was too long and more importantly wasn't proper for publication, so I made the appropriate substitution below. It also was an extension off a GW quote:
“A government is like fire, a handy servant, but a dangerous master. The IRS is like gasoline, that somehow got in your pockets and is now burning your (bottom).”
